What is the Octo GridBoost program?
GridBoost is part of a larger pilot being run by the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) that allows home batteries to be used to provide the power grid with resilience and more power when it’s needed most. Your participation in the program will help support the grid with green energy, help make the grid more resilient, and make you eligible for rewards for participating each month.
Am I eligible for Octo GridBoost program?
To be eligible for the program, you must:
- Be an existing Octopus Energy customer or switch to an Octopus Energy electric plan. Learn more here.
- Own or lease a SolarEdge Home Battery under an active/signed interconnection agreement.
- Agree to Octopus’s terms and conditions, allowing Octopus to discharge of a portion of your battery during key times, to monitor your system data and share it with participating third parties.
- Have and maintain a stable internet or cellular connection from the SolarEdge cloud to your inverter and battery system.
How much money can I earn through the Octo GridBoost program?
- Octopus will provide you with a $40 bill credit for each billing cycle for active participation in the Program.
- Additionally, each time you export electricity to the grid, you’ll receive credit from Octopus at the real-time price of power with no caps or limits.
Are there penalties for underperformance during events?
No, there are no penalties for underperformance.

If I enroll, will I still have backup if the power goes out?
Octopus Energy will never discharge more than 20% of your battery. On days without events, 100% of the battery will be available for your use.
If I already have a SolarEdge Home Battery, can I still participate?
Yes! Homeowners with existing SolarEdge Home Batteries, who meet the eligibility criteria, are eligible to participate in the GridBoost program.
Can I unenroll from the program?
You may opt out of the Octo GridBoost enrollment at any time without penalty by contacting Octopus Energy via phone or email and confirming your account details.
