Inverter & Battery Specifications
What is the Inverter's power range?
The SolarEdge Nexis Inverter features the MultiRange concept - a single powerful inverter with a range of 8-20 kW, allowing installers to cover small to large systems with one versatile inverter. The inverter's power model is set by the installer during the on-site inverter commissioning process. It is possible to set the inverter AC power rating to a higher figure than its actual DC power. For example, a roof with 5 kW peak DC power (e.g. 10 panels, each rated 500W with S650A Power Optimizers) can be connected to an 8 kW or even a 20 kW power-rated Nexis Inverter 3ph.
What is the capacity and continuous power of each Battery Block or Battery Stack?
Each Battery Block has 5 kWh nominal capacity and 3.5 kW power (charge/discharge). Accordingly, each Battery Stack offers up to 20 kWh nominal capacity and up to 14 kW power (charge/discharge). Multiple Battery Stacks offer up to 28 kW charge power and up to 20 kW discharge power (depending on Inverter model)*.
What is the difference between a Battery Block and a Battery Stack?
A Battery Block is a single modular battery unit with a 5 kWh nominal capacity. A Battery Stack is an assembly of 1 to 4 Battery Blocks - delivering up to 20 kWh (5 kWh × 4) of nominal storage capacity and up to 14 kW of charge/discharge power per Stack, connected to a single SolarEdge Nexis Inverter.
How many Battery Blocks can be combined to form one Battery Stack?
Each Battery Stack consists of 1-4 Battery Blocks, allowing you to tailor storage capacity to meet site requirements. Note: every Battery Stack must include one Battery Link for proper operation.
How many Battery Stacks can be connected to a single inverter?
Each inverter supports up to 4 Battery Stacks, for a total of up to 16 Battery Blocks - providing up to 80 kWh of nominal storage capacity per inverter**. You can either:
- Chain up to 4 Battery Stacks to a single inverter's battery input, or
- Connect each Battery Stack separately to one of the inverter's 4 battery inputs.
What is the Battery Link?
The Battery Link is the interface unit of each Battery Stack to the Inverter; it manages the Battery Blocks and allows direct connection to the inverter. It houses the communication interface and main control electronics. In case of multiple Battery Stacks, the Battery Link of each Stack enables connection between the Stacks and the inverter.
How is the Battery Stack assembled?
Each Battery Block is assembled using the Simple-Click™ architecture - an innovative mechanism that allows Blocks to be stacked one on top of the other and clicked securely into place. The Battery Link is placed at the top of the Stack. The entire battery assembly requires no wiring, ensuring a fast, clean, and reliable installation.
What is the SolarEdge Nexis Battery Wall Mount Bracket and why is it needed?
The Wall Mount Bracket enables wall-mounting of the Battery Stack where floor space is limited or obstructed. The Wall Mount Bracket must be purchased separately. A single bracket supports the entire stack, regardless of how many blocks are installed, reducing installation time and delivering a professional finish.
What is the backup power of the SolarEdge Nexis Solution?
The maximum output backup power is up to 20 kW per inverter, which is available for all inverter power classes and is independent from the commissioned on-grid power. In case of multiple inverters, backup power scales accordingly.
If a homeowner started with a PV-only inverter, what is required to add batteries later on?
The SolarEdge Nexis Solution is fully scalable and battery-ready, allowing homeowners to add up to 4 Battery Stacks at any time without major changes to the existing system**. Once the homeowner decides to add storage, the inverter connects directly to the batteries for a seamless upgrade. In addition, with the Battery Optimizer technology, homeowners can mix old and new blocks within the same stack with automatic recalibration.

Performance & Technology
What does Inverter high efficiency at low power mean?
It indicates that an inverter can maintain high conversion efficiency when operating at low power levels (e.g., a few hundred watts). As battery attachment rates are rising, systems are designed for self-consumption, which means they spend many more hours running at low power rather than at peak power. Many inverters lose significant efficiency below roughly 10-15% of their rated capacity. In contrast, the SolarEdge Nexis Inverter is engineered to deliver consistently high efficiency even at low power, maximizing energy savings and system performance day and night.
Why is high efficiency at low power important during the day?
Higher efficiency at low power converts more of the morning/evening "tails" and weak-irradiance periods into usable AC energy, increasing daytime self-consumption and overall PV-to-AC yield.
Why is high efficiency at low power important at night?
Nighttime household loads are generally modest. High efficiency at such low power levels can deliver those loads with minimal loss, extending battery autonomy and preserving capacity for outages or time-of-use peak windows.
What is the SolarEdge Nexis Battery Optimizer, and how does it enhance its performance?
The SolarEdge Nexis Battery Optimizer is a block-level control and management layer that independently manages each Battery Block to maximize efficiency, usable energy, and operational robustness. At low-power operation it is designed to selectively activate a single block while balancing state-of-charge (SoC) across all blocks, preserving the stack's ability to deliver maximum power and high efficiency when higher demand occurs. It also performs per-block thermal control to keep every block within an appropriate temperature range, supporting safe operation. The Optimizer is designed to maintain system continuity - battery operation can continue even if a single block is faulty - and supports lifecycle flexibility by allowing "old" and "new" blocks to be mixed in the same stack, with automatic system recalibration.
What makes this solution highly durable?
SolarEdge Nexis is built to last, offering full peace of mind, with:
- Wide operating ambient temperature range: Inverter −40 °C to +60 °C; Battery −20 °C to +55 °C
