SolarEdge recently released the yearly sustainability report and we’re very proud of the results. But enough about us, why should you care about our sustainability report?

What actually is a sustainability report?

Companies around the world publish sustainability reports to let their stakeholders know their position on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues. The report is a powerful way for companies to keep themselves accountable for their actions and it also provides a framework in which to mark progress.

The issues we handled in our sustainability report range from waste management policies to gender equality practices, to ethical hiring and work practices that are also supported by our suppliers and to environmental stewardship. You can read the full report here.

Working together to raise the bar.

Our focus on key ESG goals is something you can take to your customers as added value, beyond the benefits of our offering, our service, and our added value.  To us, for example, it is critical that our key suppliers sign our Supplier Code of Conduct (SCoC), or present equivalent codes of conduct of their own. These codes include provisions regarding ESG topics such as Ethics, Safety, Environmental Protection, Human Rights, and Fair Employment. Knowing our supply chain supports our vision is something we pass on to you.

Where we stand today

We are especially proud that the product we sell is instrumental in creating positive change in its field and simultaneously benefiting the planet – helping to avoid an estimated 40 million metric tons of GHG emissions from the atmosphere each year. We also celebrate our achievements in improving gender parity in our workforce, safe and fair work environments for our employees, the sustainable practices in our waste and production processes, as well as the volunteering and community involvement of our employees and business. And we believe that these are all issues that our partners and customers benefit from, in their interactions with our employees and with us.

Sustainability, of course, is a work in progress. We have achieved, and sometimes exceeded our goals; we’ve also noted areas that require additional attention. Our process is one in which we evaluate and make changes, so we can continually improve in all the areas that matter.

We are incredibly proud of receiving this recognition, and equally thrilled about where we can put our sights next. These achievements will trickle down to all of our stakeholders who can in turn talk to their customers about the company with which they choose to work.

Sustainability Report and the future

Change doesn’t only come from one huge endeavor, but also from the little steps we take every day. At SolarEdge, our business is based on that big endeavor: to develop and scale renewable energy technologies that improve the way we generate, store, manage and use electrical power in every aspect of our lives. But we also understand the power of those small, everyday actions, repeated throughout the year. These commitments are pivotal to running a sustainable business in the 21st century that runs on principles of treading lightly on the earth and returning it better than we found it. We continue to make those strides so that next year’s sustainability report will be even more thrilling.
